NE/R: GHANA CHRISTIANS HEALTH ASSOCIATION OF GHANA (CHAG) SUPPORTS THE BAPTIST MEDICAL CENTRE TO FIGHT COVID-19

The National Disaster Management Organization on Wednesday September 9, 2020 distributed relief items to the affected flood victims in the North East Region. The distribution of the items was done by a team of NADMO staffs, police personnel together with the North East Regional Minister Hon. Solomon N. Boar.
The spillage of the Bagre dam in the neighbouring Burkina Faso has rendered most of the people living along the whitevolta homeless and several properties destroyed. The honorable minister sympathised with the bereaved family and appealed to benevolent organisations to come to the aid of the affected victims.
According to the minister, the Pwalugu multipurpose dam that is currently under construction, when completed would help solve this perennial flooding and lose of lives and properties.
The North East Regional NADMO director Mr John Kwaku Alhassan in a statement indicated that the Mamprugu Mo-aduri district is the most affected in the region. He gave a breakdown of the affected districts in the region as follows:
Mamprugu Mo-aduri district: fourteen (14)communities has been affected and farmlands and properties destroyed. nine(9) communities has been cut out from the main district and( 2) lives lost.
West Mamprusi district: affected communities are twelve (12) with one (1)recorded death.
East Mamprusi:twelve (12)affected communities and one(1)death.
Chereponi district: no life lost but several communities and farmlands has been destroyed. Important roads leading to Chereponi district especially the Yendi-Chereponi road, Chereponi-Nansoni have all been cut out from the main district by flood.
Bunkpurugu and Yonyoo district have also recorded two deaths with many farmlands submerge by the flood.
According to Mr.John Kwaku Alhassan six(6)people have lost their lives in the region as the result of the spillage and torrential rainfall in the region.
